Unfortunately children are usually too small to design their own rooms, so the choice of furnishing is up to their parents... at least until they are 9 or 10 and start to want to personalize and make changes.
Keeping age in mind, a personalized design is possible, as long as you leave enough space for play when they are little and for study when they are older.
